What Do Guys Wear To Military Ball

[Film Review] The Reader

Content:
Michael Berg meets Hanna Schmitz. He is 15, she 36 and still in a relationship ensues between the two. When Hanna disappears suddenly Michael is devastated.
years later he realizes now a law student, she now accused in a process that again. Hanna and other women were charged because they did not save in a fire their prisoners. Hanna is not entirely innocent, but also not guilty of all. Michael
acknowledges Hanna's problem and begin to take their tapes on which he reads it and sends them to prison.

Cast I find very good! I like Ralph Fiennes and David Kross has done a really very good. Like Mrs Kate Winslet, a very convincing Hanna plays. The film is very
Atmospheric, tells the story very well and right with the pace.
by small pre-or perhaps more likely to be flashbacks, tells the life story of Michael and Hanna, and also takes up serious issues. The film makes you curious, clarifies to some extent, and suggests a little bit to think about.
The only drawback: the texts in the books, Michael reads (Odyssey, The lady and the dog) are in English, although the action takes place in Germany! Of course this is for many a small flaw, but I think it's a shame because then the movie loses in my eyes just to authenticity.

short: A great movie that tells a very special life story!

Book VS Movie

The details in the film are of course different. The rough process but agrees with the book. The characters in the book get a little more depth and ideas flow more Michaels in a book. It is understandable, it maybe a little better.
The prison scene in the film seemed much more distant, which I thought was very good because it reflects the fact that Michael emotions, particularly in relation to Hanna, clearly again.
In the novel, there was a scene that I wanted to shake Michael to slap the most and because he came over so cowardly and ignorant. In the film, though, that was not quite so pronounced.
What I found was also a pity that the scene in the end, the Michael and daughter of survivors of the disaster says. In the movie comes out, unfortunately, not that Hanna has the concentration camps and the atrocities that the Nazis did to the Jews, informed and thus to a likely regret their actions (even more).
The final in the film consists of the first sentences in the book. I remember that I found the end weird when I first saw the movie. I do not remember exactly why, but it was just a feeling. Overall, I found

both the book and the movie very well done and both are a wonderful complement to each other!

Blood Rushes To My Feet

[review] The Reader by Bernhard Schlink

Michael accidentally meets the much older Hanna. She helps him when he is sick outside her house. He wants for their Help and thank slips so in a relationship with the 36-year-old. He is fascinated by her, because Hanna attracts him.
But one day they just disappeared and Michael do not know why.
Only years later he meets her again - in court. He is a law student, she is a defendant in the process of post-war period. It will, with other guards, the deaths of many people on the conscience, in which he has let the Jews burnt in a church.
Torn Michael tries to uncover the secrets of Hanna to come.

Before I began to read, I've adjusted to a difficult and lofty, complicated writing style - and was surprised. Schlink's style is short and to the point, liquid and can be read easily. There were certainly a few scenes that were described somewhat more complex, and posed simple and complex questions. But all in all, the novel was read.
is told from Michael's point of view. In between, he explains how he sees things now, so when he is older and tells the story, or why it has taken this or that decision. He makes the actions happen revue and analyzed his actions partly explains why something might be gone but then Sun
With him you can feel the fascination with the much older woman and is largely trapped in its history.
detail will not tell what I think is very good. Were it otherwise, would the book, I think, do a demolition. That's just the passages from Michael's life are told. Of everything one can, after all, do not remember yourself. The brevity makes it so authentic and yet you find yourself well in Michael's (and Hannah), a life story.

Short: An interesting story about a difficult relationship, illiteracy and war!

Vegetarian Meal Response Card

newbies Week 8

Hello everybody!

This week I had actually seen a book more. Annoyingly, it was only a perceived bargain.
I buy many books used - mostly on eBay. I always ask for in advance, if it is not already there or obviously, is whether the spine bends are included. I do not like ie. In this particular bargain so I asked to also advance. "No, no kinks," the salesman said. Booyah! I then bought it for only 1 € plus shipping of 1.50 €. For a book, perhaps something much, but when it is sent as a letter in order. Everything good, everything great. What came
at me? A zoom nodded book, the packaging was ... okay (a slightly firmer paper of a promotional brochure (?) and a transparent cover) and Porto to 0.85 € (book post). Why do I have to pay "so much" shipping? Why can not register as a seller and say "Hey, has been a bit less cost than expected, shall I transfer back?" I am then someone says the "Pff, net so bad." BUT then lied too rude to be on the state, although but I inquired before extra - I think irresponsible!
Unfortunately that happens sometimes now and then. Even among people who say the state as "TOP", "like new" or "very good" often caution. Because these terms can be stretched so far.
Am I too fussy? I think not, because I'm asking for before!

But well, the small to eBay and Zustandsexkurs. Now to my new items. Two of the bargain I was really happy. The Ghost-Seer I would have preferred it had in the recent (colored) edition, but eventually it goes primarily to the content, or not? But instead I The Time Traveler's Wife get in my desire issue - namely, the world output. Of course, the white covers of the normal output is also very nice, but this one has just what I think. And finally I had to also buy something at the club. Frankly, it was not that easy at all, because right now I would have only three books (The Flaming, White and curse Clockwork Angel), but the love of money ... you know. Anyway, I am but then decided to start with a bite because it is my now gone so many times on the way, I curious about this and it was relatively cheap. Even if I had taken most of the greed-package (Indecent save and lies coming from the heart) ...

That's the point in The seers of Kai Meyer :

That's the point in The Time Traveler's Wife Audrey Niffenegger of :

- Already a while ago, before the film was recommended to me by the book and jumped me during my visits to the bookstore in the eye. Then came the film - and I've not seen. So I took the opportunity and giving me that gem for the bookmark Meets Movie Challenge secured.

That's the point in A start with a bite of Michelle Rowen :

The price of the paperback edition is the way, € 13.95. Since you can pretty much buy almost bound edition for € 17.95, right? But one must say the book is really thick! Hm

The trilogy's for almost 20 € way to buy from Amazon - in a handsome slipcase. Contrary to popular belief (?) I find the German cover very nice! In contrast to the English. Although they are also smart, fit perhaps to the slightly dark content, but still ...

[Product test] Alverde macadamia nut body butter

Hello everybody!

A few weeks ago I told you a few cosmetic products introduced that I bought. Since I have now tried quite a few of these creams, rinses and shampoos, now comes a little product testing.
I will keep in my small tests very briefly, because this is supposed to remain primarily a literary blog.
Long story short, here is the first cream-review:

Alverde macadamia nut body butter
Price: 0.95 €, Contents: 50 ml
I have tested the small can with 50 ml.
The cream was very silky, easy to apply and is also recovered very quickly. The smell is very nutty. I can not say if the aroma of macadamia, but I found it very pleasant. Sometimes it smelled a little perfume, which I do not really, but they calmed down quickly.
When plotting the cream thinly, the smell dissipates quickly again. What I found very bad, so I just took a bit longer. So I could every now and again all day to smell my arm. Has emerged this really the nutty smell.

My skin has definitely become softer, especially in the problem areas on the elbows. For this I must say that I've used the macadamia body butter alternately with the Passion Fruit Body Butter from the Body Shop. The cream is

's way too "in large". I think they will cost around 3 €. In the near future I will not buy them again though. But that is because I use up just two creams and other suits me more. But for more soon. ;-)

Edward is 14, an orphan and goes on a kind of special school - in the foundry for adolescents with behavioral problems. Edward is an outsider. For his age he is in fact quite large, and he stutters. With a classmate he has particular trouble Grudge.
before his 14th Birthday Edward gets angry a strong itch on the back and to top it all he has to deal with the said Grudge, and is also punished with him.
A mysterious, dark man in a white suit, Whiplash Scruggs appears, that seems to lead to no good. Then of course there is the mysterious Mr. Spines and his two assistants and Edward is in the middle of an incredible adventure.

The first part of the series "The Mysterious Mr. Spines.
The writing style is fast and very fluid. Lethcoe does not dwell on them long descriptions and leads the narrative forward fast. The pace of the story unfolds slowly and will end a little faster, but what I felt to be very exciting.
is alternately told from the perspective of Edward (the main character), Mr. Spines and Whiplash. The reader can of course put together some puzzle pieces and backgrounds to understand the Edward remain (still) hidden. One or the other phrase is a bit predictable, but the story of the fallen, Mr. Spines and Edward does not detract.
I had read some positive comments about the book and I was not disappointed!

short, a fabulous start! Now the fingers tingle to finally Band 2 (and 3) to hold in your hands!

Do Poleps Stop You From Falling Pregnet

[Film review] Mary Poppins

Content:
The living children of George and Winifred Banks are real problem children. Because they sell a nanny after another. The parents are desperate and looking for a new nanny. Willingly do Jane and Michael help themselves and think for a display of her dream nanny.
Of course this is not fulfilled the requirements of the banker George. But as luck would have it the advertisement of the children falls into the hands of Mary Poppins. With their self-conscious way, they can persuade George Banks, that it is the right for the job and positions itself as a quasi itself.
The children experience with Mary Poppins and fantastic magical adventure trips. Until the wind turns.

As a child I've seen the movie many times. More or less involuntarily, for one of my best friends loved Mary Poppins.
Very typical Disney, there are many music scenes that are really very funny. The Film is a combination of real and cartoon. The cartoon characters are fantastic especially with the trips of Mary Poppins, used Jane, Michael and Bert.
The age you realize the movie perfectly, although he is a special family movie. Not least because one of my favorite songs: Superkalifragilistikexpialigetisch.
How should it be for a children's film, he is very colorful and you can laugh a lot. A small flaw is that there are few stories about the adventures with Mary Poppins, Disney takes us still in the world of the most unique nanny in the world.

short: A nice family movie from Disney, using very beautiful songs!

Book VS Movie

The focus of the film is more on the adults: Mary Poppins, Bert and George Banks. Less on the children. They seem to be relatively passive. In the book they are even more minor characters, but it does turn more to their adventures.
Mary Poppins in the book has a very sullen, austere and vain. In the film is not quite so extreme over, although noticeable to just these properties when you read the book. On the other hand, it is perhaps a smile from the fact that you see in the film as Mary Poppins. In the book, Banks is
father although somewhat scattered, but not especially severe, he takes off and in time for his children and is also quite nice. In the film, he's very grumpy, very strict, at least until near the end. His work is in the film but quite strong in the foreground. Mrs. Banks also acts in an absent-minded and you do not know exactly what it does all day. The film will be shown that they more often with the suffragettes true, then enters the women's suffrage.

Overall I liked as a Disney fan, of course, the film better. Because he somehow spread a nice atmosphere - and by the music and the animated interludes. However, I was sad that the children are pushed into the background.

My favorite ...
scene ...: The fox hunting - especially Mr. Fox.
put ... in the book: When Nelly Rubina, Uncle Dodgers and bring Mary Poppins to spring to London.

Whats The Name Of The Song In Unleashed ?

[review] Mary Poppins by PL Travers

band with selected Mary Poppins stories

Content:
With things is not right, it happened, the Jane and Michael have seen exactly. The wind has blown in with a thud and stopped outside the front door - Mary Poppins, the new nanny. She is vain and very energetic, but she has a lot of significant advantages: it can slide up the banisters, talk to animals, disappear in pictures and much more. In Kirschbaumweg 17 breaks a time of incredible adventure.

[Source: Cecilie-dressler.de]

In small short stories here, the adventures of Jane, Michael, John and Barbara Banks told with her nanny Mary Poppins. Mary Poppins is in fact a very special nurse, but to know only the children and a select few adults.
And so will the stern, vain, magical nanny the four Banks children in special worlds and give them lessons they will remember all their lives.

Mary Poppins, of course, I knew from the Disney movie.
The books by PL Travers are there but a bit different. The children experience a lot more adventure. Although this band only a summary of three other books (Mary Poppins in the Park, Mary Poppins opens the door, Mary Poppins) contains so us the quirky nanny takes it on a trip - to distant worlds, the past and its friends.
The age you realize the writing style of, unfortunately. Nevertheless, the characters were adorable, even when I was Mary Poppins sometimes a bit too vain and severe. Sometimes I could not quite understand why the kids are so excited by it, but perhaps it may be that I grew up in a very different time.
My favorite story in the book was the return of spring. Mary Poppins, Nelly Rubina and her uncle Dodgers bring namely very curious way, the new season in the small London park.

short, Mary Poppins is a must read at least once!

Does Silicone Last Longer Than Saline

[Canceled] The Geography of Time by Félix J. Palma

Hello everybody!

As I have told you the other day, I was in the library and have brought with me among other The map of time of Félix J. Palma . The content has addressed me totally and I was really interested. I almost bought the book too. Fortunately
not!
I've read about 130 pages and can say that the novel is not for me.
The writing style in itself is fine, but (unfortunately) extremely sprawling and It runs thus somewhat. The story is not true by the excesses in the aisles. Or is the protagonist Andrew, who is so depressed that it is communicated to the reader? I do not know, because the passage gets to know his love was in the Andrew, that is managed well.
course I have my decision to cancel the book, not made easy. But I'll have to give on Friday (loan) and I honestly do not want to wade through some 600 more pages this kind effusions. Good fight, maybe a little hard. I'm sure if the book would be written faster and reduced, it would please me better. But so ... No.
Maybe, just maybe, is The map of time also a book that you can only read bits and pieces and it must be pretty spread (in time)? Who knows? Worse than
September blood of Rebecca Pax it was not by far. By I am also only fought because it was a recurrence rate copy ...

Here still some details to The map of time of Félix J. Palma :

Content:
London, 1896: Andrew, a wealthy factory owner's son, travels into the past to his reclaim love. The young Claire makes a journey from Victorian London to the year 2000 and meets the man she grew to love in the future, again in their time. Inspector Garrett a murderer who kills his victims with weapons that were not yet invented. All the threads come together in a demonic librarian. Only he knows the secret of the map of time. A celebration of imagination in which the reader encounters Jack the Ripper and HG Wells, the inventor of the time machine that meets in a completely unexpected role.
